Last Day

It was a bitter sweet day today, the last day of this awesome internship opportunity. I was appointed to a start-up company, Mountain Pass Solutions, to help them begin digital marketing for the product/service they provide. So far, it has helped. According to the Cyfe boards, there was really no place to go but up and it’s interesting to see the differences made. We mainly were sticking with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, none had been used by the company before. We started getting on a track of posting multiple updates on each account, with a link to the website for the reader to learn more. Today, the CEO told us that someone from another similar company was wondering if MPS would be interested in combining the companies together after seeing Monday’s post on LinkedIn. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a for sure combination, but it is quite interesting that our posts ARE playing a positive role in getting this company known. Hopefully we have helped them to get that goal of 10 more clients before the end of the year! This opportunity has greatly helped me learn a lot more about digital marketing, something that I know will help me currently and in the future. I plan to use these tools I've learned to help out my dad's company, as well as my current Etsy account, and possibly creating my own website, still deciding.

A Way to Relieve Stress

I personally get stressed way too often and usually when I’m feeling this way, something in the DIY/Craft world is what takes my mind off whatever I’m stressing about. Using those awesome Sakura Micron pens, pencils, and definitely erasers, to try and get perfection. It helps me to focus on something I love to do and always calms my mind.

One of the most common ways, for adults, to get rid of that work stress is through coloring. It is something that had really taken off about two and half years ago. I personally found out about through a friend and then took a visit to Michael’s craft store with just a small selection of coloring books. Once 2015 hit, I will say, the amount of options sky rocketed, Michael’s had one to two large stands of at least a hundred different books, but, I decided I didn’t really care for some of the quality of those books and decided how to draw “mandalas”, way easier than it seems, as well as drawing out particular shapes/objects and fun scenes. I later learned that these drawings were able to be sold on Etsy! I’m still in the process of adding even more to it, take a look at them as well as a few other items I sell, https://www.etsy.com/shop/RilassareByEmily

How to use Social Media for a Start-Up Busines

I was appointed to a company for my internship, Mountain Pass Solutions (gomountainpass.com) they provide software for higher education for a better and easier workflow. We have been using three major sources of social media for the business, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. So far, Facebook and LinkedIn have been the most helpful; we’re still trying to figure out how to strategically use Twitter to actually gain traffic. We realized that when we were first using Twitter that we are only limited to a small amount of characters per post (about 140). Today, we have decided that using an engaging photo with a brief description will allow us to use hashtags to possibly gain more attention, it will be interesting to see if this works while checking Cyfe tomorrow.

Social Media Activity

Yesterday, we finally got active on their social media accounts. It was enjoyable putting posts on their profiles through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. We mainly just shared their logo as well as a link to their press release. On their LinkedIn post, they actually had 119 impressions and 3 engagements, with a slight decrease to 97 impressions today. They also had 20 clicks on Facebook, 1 follower on Twitter (although that account doesn't show up so it may be a spam account), and nothing new with Instagram. It was quite interesting seeing those stats. They also were having quite a few visits on to their website and the average time spent was about 6.5 minutes, so far, the most time spent.

Starting Inbound Marketing

I was looking forward to this week with Mountain Pass Solutions. We were given some research to do over the weekend of what would be helpful for the company's inbound (and some outbound) marketing, which we were supposed to start this week. On Monday, we were finishing up attaching social media accounts and the important parts of Google Analytics on Cyfe for an easier way of tracking our traffic. We were going to begin using their Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts. With the plan to share a link to their website and brief descriptions of what their software can offer, hoping to get a couple of clicks on specific pages of their website. We are also on the track of starting with their MailChimp account to send out emails as well as SurveyMonkey to hear from possible contenders what their preference and opinion is on software they have used and currently use. The creation of running a HootSuite account is in the works as well. Apparently, we were told yesterday that they were swamped with finishing up content and infrastructure. I believe that if they are able to achieve and complete it by the weekend, it will be a smooth sail to start using social media accounts to gain attention, next week. It will also be very interesting to see if their website is going to be updated with a much more user-friendly layout.

Completing Social Media Accounts

Today, we are finishing up adding small detail and perfecting all of the social media accounts we intend to use, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. We have also completed the Cyfe account, adding another dashboard strictly to keep track of Google Analytics and couple new social medias. Quite a few of the views for the page come from towns in Michigan, one, being Kingston. They clicked on our site 60+ times.
We are now getting ready to set up the Hootsuite account to be completely set and ready for Monday to begin the inbound marketing, running actively on social media accounts, as well as sending out various emails through Mailchimp. We are also currently in the process of working on surveys to send out to our target to see more in detail their interest and concerns.

Wedding Decorations for My Friend's Wedding

A little over a year ago, I was asked to be a bridesmaid at my friend's wedding, which was today! A few months back she asked me if I could make particular signs for decoration, and I was more than excited to follow through with it. Although there were only three signs to make, they were very fun and I put thought and care into making them. The first sign I made was a small chalkboard piece that says "Thanks for Popping in", this went along with the favors to the guests. The second piece I made was a hanging wood sign with a small list of the games they had set up for guests during cocktail hour. The last piece, which was my personal favorite, was on an older/aged wood pallet that had the schedule on it. This one took a while but I was very satisfied with the outcome. Here are a couple photos:
